Front of House Team Member (Bar, Restaurant & Events)

Location: White Horse Inn, Abbots Causeway, Mark, Somerset, TA9 4LT

Job Type: Part-time / Flexible (with potential to grow)
 

Pay: From £11.50 per hour (negotiable depending on experience) + monthly tips

 

 

About the Role

We're looking for friendly, confident, and adaptable Front of House Team Members to join our pub team.

This is a varied role covering all aspects of front of house, including bar service, waiting tables, hosting guests and supporting weddings, events and functions. No two shifts are the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy hospitality environment.

As the face of the business, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and delivering excellent customer service from the moment guests arrive until they leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with hospitality experience who wants a varied role and the opportunity to progress into supervisory and management positions over time.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Bar Service:

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks

Operate tills and handle payments accurately

Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked bar

Monitor customer behaviour and follow responsible alcohol service procedures

Support busy service periods and events

 

 

Restaurant Service:

Take food and drink orders accurately

Serve food and beverages to a high standard

Clear and reset tables efficiently

Maintain cleanliness throughout dining areas

Ensure guests receive attentive and friendly service throughout their visit

 

 

Hosting & Customer Service:

Welcome and seat guests

Answer customer enquiries both in person and over the phone

Manage bookings and reservations

Provide a warm, professional first impression for all visitors

Resolve customer queries professionally and efficiently

 

 

Events & Functions:

Assist with weddings, wakes, private parties, and other events

Set up and clear down event spaces

Provide food and drink service during functions

Help ensure events run smoothly and guests are well looked after

 

 

General Duties:

Opening and closing duties

Maintaining cleanliness throughout front of house areas

Restocking and replenishing supplies

Following health & safety procedures at all times

Supporting colleagues across all areas of the business

Working as part of a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences

What We're Looking For

Must be aged 18 or over

Previous hospitality experience preferred but not essential

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Friendly, positive, and professional attitude

Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment

Reliable, punctual, and well-presented

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Willingness to learn and develop new skills
